課程概述

The course is designed to
help students acquire a
composite knowledge of the
use of sounds in spoken
English: one which entails an
understanding of principles
which regulate the production
of these sounds; and the
other, a practical knowledge
of how sounds may create
problems for students and how
these problems may be reduced
using learning materials
designed to activate the
students’ kinesthetics,
aural and visual skills.  

課程目標
The course intends to offer
students a basic
understanding of a general
theory about speech sounds
and how they are used in
language. It also aims at
providing students an
opportunity to activate
student’s knowledge of such
theories by guiding them to
design materials that aid
young learners to learn
English.  
課程要求
Students are expected to
complete the following tasks
at the end of the course:
limericks, tongue twisters
and a pronunciation game.
They are expected to perform
and/or present them in class
individually and in teams.
Also, they shall be sitting
in a written test at the end
of the course.

Homework 
20% 
In order to help you prepare for the performances, you need to complete some homework, done individually or in teams, regularly during the course. These homework are reviewed in class and are collected at the end of the course with the necessary revisions indicated by the instructor. Three of these homework, which function as learner-specific learning materials, are graded (limericks, tongue twisters, pronunciation game). These materials are designed by students of the course following an understanding of specific problems of sound production faced by a specific group of English learners in the country.

You perform team projects (limericks, tongue twisters, pronunciation game) in class.

Individual Performance 
30% 
You perform individual projects (limericks, tongue twisters, pronunciation game) in class. 
4. 
Written Test 
10% 
The written test assesses your knowledge and understanding of transcribing words and sentences phonemically.
